Parish Council Meeting of 21st March 2013
Present at the meeting held on 21st March were Councillors Brian Frith, Beverley Humphreys, Terry Henderson, Claire Jordan, Jackie Bowers, Gillian Barnes, clerk Sarah Berwick, County Councillor Bev Spratt and five members of the public. Apologies were received from David Peacock.
Several planning applications were considered:
- a)2013/0136 Mill House, Long Stratton Road – Addition of first floor to existing rear extension and ground floor patio doors: Councillors recommended this application is approved.
- b)2013/0348 Land at South of 3 Orchard Close – Erection of 2 new dwellings and garages: A letter of objection from a neighbouring resident was read out. Councillors felt the proposals were out of keeping with the surrounding area and neighbouring bungalows which could be overlooked by the building of two houses. There was concern that the dwellings will be in front of the existing building line. The application also states that there are not any trees or hedging on the site but there is a Leylandii hedge and a fruit tree. There was also concern that there is no room to turn a vehicle round on the driveways of the homes. Councillors felt this was overdevelopment on an awkward sized plot therefore are to recommend refusal of this application.
- c)2013/0386 Red House Farm, High Road – Sub division of existing building to form two units for use as vehicle maintenance workshops including spray booth and external alterations. Variation of condition 7 of permission 2010/1980 to allow no more than 3 people to operate from the premises (unit 1 & 2 together) at any one time: Councillors agreed this application should be recommended for approval.
- d)2013/0416 Clavers Cottage, Low Road – Erection of summerhouse in rear garden: Councillors recommended this application is approved.
The parish council is to undertake some training on the New Standards Regime.
The Annual Parish Meeting is to be held on 16th May at 7pm, this is your chance to hear what the groups and organisations have been up to over the year. If you are involved in a group in the village and would like to give a report please contact the clerk.
More volunteers are needed to help with the SAM speed awareness machine. If you are able to help, please contact the clerk.
The clerk attended a meeting regarding Emergency Plans, although Forncett has a plan it is now out of date and needs renewing.
There were 6 crimes recorded in Forncett during February, it was agreed that this is quite high and the clerk is to contact the police.
A while ago the parish council adopted the phone boxes in Low Road and Mill Road. These boxes belong to the parish. Gould you help maintain them by giving them a bit of TLC? Do you have any ideas as to what they could now be used for, other parishes use them for notice boards, book exchanges etc. Please contact the clerk with offers of help or any ideas.
